Welcome to S.D.P.T. First Grade College Kateel

Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple First Grade College Kateel was established in 1988 by the Management of Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple Kateel with the sole intention of providing good quality higher education to rural poor at an affordable cost as a social responsibility. This is an unaided college affiliated to the Mangalore University with UGC recognition under 12(B) and 2F. Being unaided, the College is not getting any financial grant from Govt. and UGC. The College meets all expenses of infrastructural development, educational support facilities and staff salary from offerings made by devotees of the Temple which manages this College. The College got reaccredited by NAAC under 2nd cycle with B+ Grade with CGPA 2.53 and moving towards 3rd cycle of accreditation by NAAC. Though unaided, the College exhibits its uniqueness by bagging 27 ranks and 18 Gold Medals in B.Com. & B.A. Programmes and 30 ranks in MA Programme as a mark of continuous academic progress over the last 37 years. The Management is providing free mid-day meals to all the students along with education at an affordable cost. The College offers B. Com., M.A. in Sanskrit, Doctoral Programme in Sanskrit and 11 Certificate Courses. The Management Committee of the College had passed resolution to introduce BCA programme from 2025-26. The College gives special attention for overall personality enhancement of rural students through curricular and co-curricular activities. The College imparts good quality education with 13 spacious class-rooms, ICT enabled teaching with LCD projectors for 9 classrooms and one programme hall, computer education with 2 computer labs and 42 computers; high speed internet connectivity for classrooms, library and departments; automated library with OPAC and INFLBNET N-list e-resources; ladies rest rooms with incinerators; UVRO purified drinking water; spacious programme hall; open-air theater; fire safety installations; 20 KW soundless generator; 20 KW rooftop solar energy generation; multi-gym, cafeteria, vehicle parking; green audit, environmental audit; waste management system; rain water harvest; well-maintained garden, herbal plants park by name ‘Ashokavana’, Miyawaki Forest System; 10 working MOUs for skill development; 13 Clubs, 3 Centers, 6 Committees, 5 Cells, 7 Associations, Student Union, NSS, YRC, sports, games; free training for yoga, yakshagana, music, dance, drama, kunitha bhajans; intercollegiate competitions, job fair, campus recruitment drives, experiential learning and participative learning opportunities for students.

Management

The college is sponsored and managed by Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kateel which is an ‘A’ – Grade Temple under the control of HR and CE department of Govt. of Karnataka. Shri Sanath Kumar Shetty Kodethuruguthu is the Chairman, Committee of management, hereditary trustee of the Temple and the correspondent of the college. Vedamoorthy Shri K. Vasudheva Asranna is another hereditary trustee of the Temple.
